Rest In Power BEAUJET MAYORALGO, lead guitarist and founding member of the blues southern rock ensemble ANIBUGHAW. Mayoralgo succumbed to a heart attack while celebrating his birthday with his family in Calatagan, Batangas. He had just turned 48. Back in 1995, Anibughaw bested over 350 entries and won The LA Cup Competition organized by rock radio station DWLA-FM 105.9 in partnership with Tone-Def, an Ivory Records label. The following year saw the band release its first major record album “Buhay, Bahay At Halaman,” which I co-produced with legendary music producer, Ed Formoso. Through the years, I spent great moments with Mayoralgo. Anibughaw was a driving force with Renegades of Rock, which featured leading names of pure rock and true metal and went on a 5-year tour from 2012-2017. The last time I was with him was during an intimate send-off party a few days before I left for the US three years ago. According to Anibughaw’s drummer, Edward Handog, who is now the only original member left with the group, Mayoralgo’s remains will be cremated tomorrow afternoon in Loyola Memorial Chapels and Crematorium. Viewing will be the day after tomorrow at Filipinas Funeral Homes. Both establishments are located in Makati City.
